There are a number of interesting places to visit with children in the capital of Latvia. The old town of Riga is surrounded by lots of parks where you can just sit on a bench or ride a bike, skateboard, scooter. Tourists visiting Riga Zoo can see lions, giraffes, hippopotamuses, kangaroos, fur seals, turtles and about 400 species of animals with their own eyes. In a specially designed space, children are allowed to feed small sheep and goats. The zoo is located on the shore of a large and picturesque lake in a quiet city district. Riga invites its guests to visit a number of interesting museums. These are the Railway Museum displaying old locomotives, the Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation, and the Riga Motor Museum with its collection of vintage vehicles. Children who do not like going to museums will be able to learn the history of the confectionery business in Latvia by visiting a "chocolate room" in the museum of Laima confectionery factory. Just trying chocolate at the factory is not as intriguing as a tour of working shops and watching how the children's favorite delicacies are produced. This kind of adventure leaves only positive emotions and lasting impression. In the city, you can visit a circus or a puppet theater, as well as make a fascinating river trip on wooden ships across the Daugava River.
One of the best playgrounds for children in Latvia is located in Jurmala. It is conveniently located a few minutes walk from a beach in Mežaparks. The park itself is full of all sorts of zones for children's activities including many swings, sports simulators, hanging bridges, equipment for improving coordination. Kids will absolutely love it! One more point of interest is the presence of blueberry bushes growing right in the park. Visitors do not need to go far for food. Jurmala beaches also have many playgrounds, many of which are themed. Not to mention all sorts of water entertainment and rides. On the very outskirts of the city, there is an interesting ethnographic museum. It is dedicated to the life of fishermen in small villages. The museum displays a couple of small fishing vessels and a lot of boats that can be climbed freely, not counting various fishing devices, nets, and small houses once owned by fishermen. A nice addition will be a slide with swings made of wood. Sliding through extreme water pipes, swimming in various pools, relaxation in the jacuzzi and many other entertainments and attractions are waiting for visitors of different ages in Livu Water Park located at the entrance to the city. The city of Ventspils invites visitors to the Ethnographic Museum to ride a small functioning locomotive along a narrow-gauge railway in the Seaside Park. In the city garden, children can see a lot of huge sculptures in the shape of items of clothing. Here there is a shoe that can be climbed by giant lace ropes, a huge hat, keys, a comb. In the Seaside Park, everyone can get through the Jungle Trail absolutely free of charge. It is aimed to show children another interesting playground and a small lake with a ferry by which they can reach the opposite shore.
