The leader in terms of attractions is the ancient city of Klaipeda and Memel Castle is among its prominent historical characters. Built in the early Middle Ages, the castle has managed only partially. Through the efforts of architects building was almost completely rebuilt in 2002. Today, the castle houses the Historical Museum.
The landmark of the later period is Kopgalis Fortress. Built in the 18th century, it has well preserved to this day. Today it’s open to visitors, which can stroll through the long corridors of the fortress and look into the museum. The exhibition in latter is devoted to the development of navigation. Palanga is also ready to offer its guests a rich excursion program. The city has many priceless monuments, including the incomparable Tyszkiewicz Palace. Built in the late 19th century, the palace was severely damaged during the WWII; its reconstruction began in the second half of the 20th century. It's a beautiful palace considered a true sample of the neo-Renaissance style. Several years ago, the building surrounded by the vast park was converted into the Museum of Amber.
Another curious attraction is Sventoji lighthouse. It’s a striking monument of modern architecture. The lighthouse has being operating since 1957. The scarlet construction is 39 meters high, so it’s visible from a distance of more than 30 kilometers. The resort village of Sventoji located in the immediate vicinity of Palanga is famous for its Sculpture Park. All the sculptures in the park are made of two materials, wood and stone. The resort town of Neringa also has historical monuments; tourists should definitely see the Nida lighthouse located on the Hill of Urbas. According to historical records, the first lighthouse on the hill was built in 1874; it was destroyed in the final stage of World War II. However, it was rebuilt already in 1945. The height of the lighthouse is more than 29 meters, thus, it’s perfectly visible from literally any part of the town.
The most mysterious attraction of Neringa is Raganu hill that is called Raganas kalnas or the Hill of Witches in many guide books. The first inhabitants of these places were Sambians and Kurs tribes. They considered the mountain sacred, so it remained a place of religious worship for many years. Later, locals began to celebrate religious holidays there. In the late 20th century, the mountain park appeared and it was decided to decorate it with sculptures. Now there are 80 of them.

In the northern part of the region, vacationers will find two absolutely charming beaches – Giruliai and Melnrages. Despite the fact that cool Baltic water becomes warm enough to swim only in the midst of summer, these beaches are always very popular with tourists regardless of the temperature of water.
