Muang is a typical beach resort, but there are lots of fun activities in addition to beach recreation. The beach along which the town is located is about 4,000 metres long, so it is never crowded, even in the height of the tourist season. The beach is gentle, therefore it is popular among tourists with little children. Thickets of tropical plants neighbour the coast here, so tourists can always combine beach recreation with entertaining walks. Visitors to Muang can get to any part of Krabi; nature aficionados often go to the local elephant farm. Locals consider these animals one of their main symbols, so they are greatly respected here. Today, there are several large nurseries in Thailand. One of the largest and most interesting ones is located on the island of Krabi. Elephant safaris are organized for visitors to the farm; they can ride through the jungle and admire exotic plants. Everyone can feed the elephants and take memorable photos with them. Si Satchanalai is a great place to learn more about history of Thailand as in this city you will find interesting sights of different epochs. In the 8th century, a small settlement was founded there, and it took only few decades for that settlement to turn into a large center of trade. Ancient temples remain the biggest attraction in Si Satchanalai, and in 1988 the city was named the biggest open air museum in the country.
